It’s no secret that Mandurah and its surrounds are a nature lover’s paradise, with winding rivers, crystal canals, pristine beaches, extensive inland waterways twice the size of Sydney Harbour and swathes of natural bushland. It’s a spectacular environment, and a biodiversity hot spot of international recognition right on the doorstep of Perth. It also provides endless opportunities to get out and enjoy this amazing landscape. So now that the weather is warmer, and the school holidays are here, there is no excuse to make the most of our glorious region and beautiful weather!
Whether you’re a train enthusiast, a walker, a cyclist, a skateboarder or BMXer, a sailor or a jet skier, you’ll find something to keep you, and the kids, happy this spring.

The internationally significant Yalgorup Wetlands System is a precious ecosystem; a habitat for a vast number of birds, animals, and plant species. Pack a hat and water bottle and explore and spot wildlife by the many walking trails, reserves and viewing platforms. Many places also have information signs to help children learn about this vital eco-system.
If you’d like a guided nature walk to learn more about the area, local tour operator Salt and Bush Eco Tours offers custom guided nature experiences from the bushland to the waterways around the Peel Region.

What’s your level of water adventure? Are you a jet ski type, a sailor, or more of a kayaker? Get everyone’s adrenaline pumping on a jet ski with Stag Watersports, operating from Mandurah and Dawesville, or to explore the waterways at your own pace, hire a boat, paddleboard, or kayak. Got a budding sailor in the house? Kids can learn how to sail at one of the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club clinics that are held throughout the year.
