Meet your new neighbours: Resident Q&A
Wayne Gibbings and his young family, wife Bee and their two young daughters have just moved into their brand-new home in Stage 3B in the Forest Walk precinct at Frasers Landing. They are still settling in; Wayne is currently painting the home but are excited about discovering more about the unique Frasers Landing lifestyle.
Q: Wayne, what was it that made you decide to purchase land at Frasers Landing?
A: We had been looking in and around Mandurah for a while. We definitely wanted to be close to Mandurah, but block sizes and prices close to town were restrictive, until we discovered Frasers Landing.
Q: Other than the value you saw, what would be the top three things that convinced you?
A: Definitely the location, it’s central to everything. It’s convenient for the girls’ school, and for Bee’s work. It also has a definite character, unlike a lot of the estates we looked at. It has its own identity, with so much natural bushland around, and the river so close. We love all the trees … we’re directly opposite a lovely park, and there was a tree on our block already – you don’t often see that!
Q: Do you have a favourite café or walking spot yet?
A: We just love it down on the Mandurah foreshore and often cycle together along the waterfront. We usually end up at Simmo’s for ice cream!
Q: Are you looking forward to being part of the Frasers Landing community?
A: Definitely. Obviously, we’ve only just moved in, but we’ve seen some of the events and happenings. The girls love wildflowers, so once we’re settled, we’ll take them on one of the organised wildflower walks. We’re also looking forward to getting more neighbours, and being part of a friendly neighbourhood, and our girls making some new friends to play with in the park.
Q: Has purchasing at Frasers Landing been a good experience?
A: I couldn’t fault it. The team have been awesome, especially Fiona (Johnson) who was a huge help, as this was our first time building.
Q: So you would recommend buying in Frasers Landing?
A: Absolutely! The girls love it here, especially with the park across the road. We have friends looking to buy, and it would be wonderful to have more families and kids moving in.
Q: Who did you choose to build with?
A: We chose Home Group WA, and they were fantastic too. We felt really fortunate, we had an excellent Building Supervisor and it was just nine months between laying the slab and getting our keys. Now I’m here doing the painting!
Q: Any tips for other first time home builders?
A: Probably just spend the time upfront checking and re-checking your plans, so you don’t get any surprises later on. And pay a bit extra to get the walls painted before you move in!
