Things to do in Mandurah on the School Holidays

From ice skating to nature trails, to animals galore, there are plenty of ways to keep the kids happy this winter.

If you live in and around Mandurah, there is absolutely no excuse to hear the words “I’m bored!” There are so many amazing things to do, from art trails and playgrounds to ice skating, hiking, museums, and boat and train rides. We’ve put together a few here, both indoor and outdoor, so whatever the weather, the whole family can get out and about and stay active together.

With the July school holidays coming up, it’s a great time to start planning your holiday calendar.

Get your skates on! Ice-skating is back in Mandurah, just in time for the school holidays. This magical winter wonderland is a must-visit destination, perfect for the whole family, of all sizes and ages, whether you’re a newbie to skating or a real pro. Along with the ice-skating rink there’s an ice slide, pop-up rides, entertainment, and food and drinks. All the info you need is here.

If the sun is out, put on your walking boots and head outdoors! The Len Howard Conservation Park is a great place to let the kids run free and connect with nature. Follow the peaceful trail that runs alongside the estuary foreshore, taking in some beautiful coastal wetlands that are a wonderland for bird spotters.

Fancy patting a kangaroo? Shaking hands with a snake? Feeding a ferret? Ranger Red’s Zoo & Conservation Park is a small hands-on zoo in a lush setting on the banks of the Murray River. What makes it unique is the ‘hands-on experience’ you get here. There are over 150 species of birds and animals to see, including koalas, wombats, dingoes, reptiles, possums and owls.

Or are Dolphins more your fancy? Mandurah’s playful dolphins are an absolute must see and what better way than on a boat cruise with Mandurah Cruises down the scenic estuary and canals. The kids will love the experience and will get to watch a western rock lobster catch demonstration too.

Mandurah is also home to some outstanding public art. Go exploring and follow the trails to discover pieces inspired by the estuary landscapes, the amazing native fauna and flora, and the region’s history. Which one will be your favourite?

If the weather does turn dreary, wear the kids out at Flippin’ Out, the trampoline park that will have them jumping for hours. Then feed them up with fish and chips at Sharky’s on the waterfront at Dolphin Quay. There are also plenty of kid-friendly eating options in the Food Court at Mandurah Forum. Turn it into a day out – while you enjoy a spot of retail therapy, the kids can burn off some energy at the Adventure and Family Playgrounds.
