Community Update September 2024
Welcome to our September Community Update!
Meet Your Neighbour BBQ-Wrap Up
Thank you to everyone who attended the Meet Your Neighbour BBQ on Sunday, September 15th. A special shoutout to those who brought along extra delicious treats to share! It was wonderful to see new residents mingling with long-time community members. We extend our gratitude to Jesika Miller from the City of Mandurah and the Mandurah Mens’ Shed for unveiling the Grow Cart. We were also delighted to have Cheryl from the Mandurah Community Gardens, Nicole Ingram from Community Gardens WA, and Chris Lampard from Peel Men of the Trees join us. The talented performers from ‘Perhaps, a theatre company’ gave us an exciting sneak peek of their upcoming show at the Mandurah Performance Centre.
Jesika Miller is the Community Development Manager for the City of Mandurah and can support community initiatives. Feel free to reach out to her she is lovely! Jesika.Miller@mandurah.wa.gov.au
At the BBQ, we unveiled a fantastic community initiative: the Grow Cart. This project, in collaboration with Frasers Property, the City, Mandurah Mens’ Shed, and Mandurah Community Garden, is now located in front of the Community Centre on Landings Blvd. The Grow Cart is a place for everyone to share surplus produce like fruit, veggies, seeds etc with the community. The Mandurah Community Garden team will be the custodians of this wonderful initiative, ensuring it thrives and benefits all.
Just a reminder, please do not feed the ducks or any native birdlife that can be found in abundance in this community. Bread, especially has a detrimental effect on birdlife and can lead to malnutrition. This is particularly important during the breeding season. Let’s work together to look after our wildlife.
