It's blooming spring! Discover the best wildflower walks in and around Mandurah.
When the days start to get light that little bit earlier, the air smells of blossom and the sun is just that bit warmer, we know spring is here. Or, in the Noongar seasons, we are transitioning between Djilba (‘second rain’, August/September) to Kambarang (the flowering season, October/November).
At all times but especially in spring, Mandurah and its surrounds offer so much natural beauty. And while we’re all aware of the attractions of the ocean beaches, the estuary and the river, another natural wonder is the stunning wildflowers that bloom across the region.
Mandurah and Peel provide an exquisite and diverse range of unique wildflowers, from the Yalgorup National Park near the coast to Serpentine National Park. You don’t have to travel far to see wildflowers such as Kangaroo Paws, Pink Fairy Orchids and Hibbertia. Mandurah’s Mediterranean climate provides the perfect conditions for wildflowers to flourish – and spring, from September to November, is the best time to catch the blooms in full bloom.
