Master Builders Victoria award for Club Mambourin
Harris HMC Construction has won a prestigious Master Builders Victoria award for its work creating Frasers Property Australia’s landmark residents’ facility Club Mambourin.
Entered in the Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings $5M-$10M section, the one-year-old facility at Frasers Property’s Mambourin development in Wyndham Vale was recognised for the craftmanship and quality of its construction.
The project was delivered by HDP, a Melbourne-based division of Harris HMC specialising in commercial construction across complex projects ranging from medical facilities to community centres. HDP was lauded for its project management, quality, sustainability, and innovation in realising architect FJMT’s vision for the multipurpose community centre.
Club Mambourin features a 100-capacity function room, 25m heated lap pool, kids’ pool, spa, outdoor mutli-use court, gym, outdoor shower, bike storage facilities, barbecues, al fresco dining area and the Little Growling Café.
The club, which celebrated its first birthday in August, is for the exclusive use of residents of Frasers Property’s Mambourin development and their guests.
Polished concrete, recycled timbers, bluestone tiling and Corian stone give the building character and soul, but just as important is what is hidden below ground.
In a Victoria-first innovation, geothermal technology is used to heat the pools and spa, as well as to heat and cool the building itself.
Twenty-one loops, dug 48m to 93m deep below the facility, make use of the earth’s natural heat, a much more energy efficient system than traditional heating and air-conditioning. A solar power system installed to work in conjunction with the geothermal pool heating was another Victorian first.
Sarah Bloom, General Manager Development Victoria, Frasers Property Australia, said the facilities at Club Mambourin, along with the development’s parks, playgrounds, bike paths and 4.4 hectares of wetlands, were all part of a vision for an integrated community, where residents can play, socialise, and exercise, without leaving their local area.
“With 700 families already calling Mambourin home, it’s been great to deliver on our promise of ensuring they have everything they need to start putting down roots — a place to meet their neighbours over a coffee, a workout or a play with the kids in the pool,” she said. “We knew this facility would be a fabulous part of Mambourin, and it’s great to know Master Builders Victoria also recognise its quality.”
Geoff Dart, director of Harris HMC said the company relished the opportunity to bring to life such a vital part of the Mambourin community.
“We were thrilled to be a part of this project and honoured that Frasers Property trusted us to create a facility which would become the heart and soul of Mambourin,” he said.
“Knowing we were creating a building with such cutting-edge environmental technology just added to the satisfaction of working on the project.”
