Dear residents and community members,
As we commence 2023 we have some updates to share on a number of key pieces of community infrastructure.
With a run of fine weather after a record-breaking year of rain, we have recommenced construction of stages 16 and 22.
We’re also continuing to liaise with the numerous authorities involved in delivering the likes of the school, the bridge, various road projects and the wetlands that affect our community.
We’ll continue to check in regularly with those stakeholders and provide information as we receive it via these updates and our website.
If you live outside Wallara Waters but would like to receive updates by email, please sign up at https://www.frasersproperty.com.au/VIC/Wallara-Waters/Contact-Us/Enquire-Now or contact us on 13 38 38.
We wish you the best for the year ahead.

Responsibility |
Status as at January 2023 |
Government Primary School |
Victorian Government (Department of Education and Training Victoria/Victorian School Building Authority)
|
Land has been acquired to support the delivery of a future school site within Wallara Waters. We will continue to work closely with the Victorian School Building Authority and will have a formal update for our community with more details on this from term 2, this year. |
Community Centre |
Mitchell Shire Council |
No status change: The masterplan of Phase Two of the project – south of Taylors Creek – has been designed to incorporate a Council-run Community Activity Centre adjoining the proposed school site. We are currently in discussions with Council over a prospective purchase of the proposed site.
|
Proposed Retail/Commercial Precinct |
Mondous Property |
Economic analysis has indicated that by approximately 2026 Wallan East could support a neighbourhood shopping centre based on the main trade area growing to a population of 29,000. Other factors that will influence the timing of a development include economic conditions and Mondous Property’s own requirements. The timing for the neighbourhood shopping centre therefore is not known yet. Mondous Property will review this again in approximately 12 months and we will provide the community an update.
|
Sales |
Frasers Property Australia and Mondous Property |
Stage 22 land sales continue to the south of Taylors Creek. There are also some remaining lots in Phase One. The lots along Wallara Waters Boulevard are currently on the market ranging in size from 350 to 535 sqm and priced between $314,000 and $410,000.
|
Hume Freeway Bridge and Macsfield Road |
Frasers Property Australia and Mondous Property |
An additional road connection is planned in the southern section of Wallara Waters which includes a new bridge over the Hume Freeway. Mitchell Council have approved the functional layout for Macsfield Road. This is now pending Department of Transport approval. Preliminary comments have been received and responded to.

Power outage issue |
Ausnet |
Ausnet, the energy providers for the region, have recently advised that they have completed the majority of infrastructure upgrade works with a small amount scheduled this and next month. Contact Ausnet on this email address if you have any further queries customersupport@ausnetservices.com.au

Taylors Creek and wetlands system |
Frasers Property Australia and Mondous Property |
You will have noticed some significant earthworks on the south side of Taylors Creek. This major landscaping project to create the wetlands requires a drier environment and the recent warmer weather is helping. Following outfall improvements to be undertaken in neighbouring Yarra Valley Water land in early 2023, the water body will be pumped down in preparation for further wetlands works. This work is subject to approval by Yarra Valley Water and VicTrack.
|
Hume Freeway ‘on’ and ‘off’ ramps at Watson Street |
Victorian Department of Transport |
The Commonwealth Government committed funds to this project in September 2020. In November 2022 the Victorian Labor Government announced if re-elected it would make a $130 million contribution towards a full diamond interchange at Watson St. We believe early geotechnical investigations have been undertaken at the site. The next step is a formal design process by the Victorian Department of Transport.
