Anita Hoskins appointed as Real Utilities General Manager

New leadership as Real Utilities embarks on next evolutionary phase

06 December 2022

  • Anita Hoskins has been appointed as the new General Manager of Real Utilities
  • Appointment will help drive Real Utilities forward into its next evolutionary phase as a stand-alone business
  • Former General Manager Paolo Bevilacqua takes on new role as Group Head of Sustainability of the international Frasers Property Limited

Anita Hoskins is the new General Manager of Real Utilities.

Currently the Chief Financial Officer of Frasers Property Australia, Ms Hoskins will continue in this role while also assuming the leadership of Real Utilities, to take the carbon neutral energy business through its next growth phase.

Real Utilities is the in-house energy retailing business of Frasers Property Australia but operates as a stand-alone business, supplying 100% Climate Active-certified carbon neutral energy and providing cheaper, greener, simpler energy solutions to customers.

Ms Hoskins takes over as General Manager from Paolo Bevilacqua, who has been appointed Group Head of Sustainability for the Singapore-headquartered multinational real estate company Frasers Property Limited. Importantly, Mr Bevilacqua will remain on the Board of Real Utilities, for the team to continue to leverage his knowledge and experience. Ms Hoskins is excited by the challenge of her new remit.

“I’m looking forward to working with our current and future Real Utilities customers and partners, including authorities, the wider Frasers Property Australia development business and other stakeholders, to explore new and innovative ways to deliver sustainable energy solutions in pursuit of a cleaner energy future,” Ms Hoskins says.

“Real Utilities is a core component of Frasers Property Australia’s wider sustainability strategy, contributing to our broader sustainability initiatives which unlock value across the business, including enabling us to participate in sustainable financing arrangements and secure sustainability-linked loans.

“As Frasers Property Australia progresses towards its ambitious 2028 net zero carbon target, Real Utilities will play an increasingly crucial role not only in the decarbonisation of our operations at Frasers Property, but also to reduce the carbon footprints of our customers, helping them future-proof their properties,” she says. Ms Hoskins acknowledges the hard work and huge inroads made by former General Manager Paolo Bevilacqua.

“Paolo was the driving force behind the establishment of Real Utilities as the in-house but stand-alone energy retailing business of Frasers Property Australia and in less than six years, under his leadership, the company has built a strong national pipeline of projects and welcomed over 1,800 customers across the residential, industrial and commercial sectors,” Ms Hoskins says.

Looking ahead, Ms Hoskins says there are a number of opportunities available to Real Utilities as the broader energy landscape experiences tumultuous times. “Having an established and trusted energy solutions provider can give our customers confidence that we will continue to seek out the best available options in line with our promise to provide cheaper, greener, simpler energy solutions,” she says.

“The impact of climate change on weather patterns and natural disasters means environmental policies must be front and centre of our strategic building and planning initiatives in Australia. Real Utilities is well-positioned to capitalise on this focus both for Frasers Property in Australia, as well as more broadly drive sustainable innovation within Frasers Property Group.”

Mr Bevilacqua congratulates Ms Hoskins on her appointment and looks forward to the bright future of Real Utilities.

“With Anita at the helm, Real Utilities will continue to grow and innovate, providing customers with accessible green energy solutions for many years to come. It’s been a privilege to see the business go from strength to strength since its inception in 2017 and I look forward to continuing to celebrate its achievements under Anita’s leadership.” Real Utilities installs and operates its own energy infrastructure such as solar panels, batteries and biodiesel generators and supplies carbon neutral energy to Frasers Property Australia’s residential communities, shopping centres, build-to-rent and office assets, as well as Frasers Property Industrial’s assets in Australia. The company, and the energy it provides, are both certified carbon neutral by the Australian Government’s Climate Active program.
