Brookhaven’s end-of-Year festivities and initiatives
As we approach the end of 2024, the Brookhaven community has been buzzing with festive spirit and goodwill. This year’s end-of-year initiatives, in collaboration with the Brookhaven Collective, have brought residents together for memorable celebrations and combined charity efforts.
Christmas at Brookhaven
Residents gathered for a community-minded morning at the Brookhaven Bean Café, transforming the café into a festive hub. With Christmas tunes filling the air, families enjoyed a variety of fun activities, including craft-making and games for all ages. The highlight of the morning was the carol singing by our talented local community choir, the Freedom Train Choir, spreading the joy of the season. Of course, Santa made a special appearance—impersonated by one of our very own residents—giving families the chance to snap a memorable holiday photo. It was a merry time for everyone, filled with laughter and holiday cheer.
Brookhaven Christmas Giving Tree
A heartfelt thank you to all the residents who contributed to Brookhaven's Christmas Giving Tree initiative this year. Over 40 generous gifts were placed under our tree in the sales office, with many donations dedicated to teenagers, ensuring that everyone in the community would feel the love this holiday season. These gifts were donated to Defenders for Hope, a local charity that supports families impacted by domestic violence, homelessness, and mental health challenges.
With the guidance of Defenders for Hope, a small group of volunteers came together to wrap the gifts, reflecting on the children, teens, and mothers who would benefit from the donations. This was a truly meaningful experience, reminding us all of the power of giving back to those in need during the holidays.
Brookhaven Bush Babes Christmas Party
To wrap up a successful year of the Brookhaven Bush Babes program, we hosted a special Christmas party for the families who have participated throughout 2024. Over 30 families attended, making it a wonderful gathering that strengthened connections among the young families in the estate and provided a chance to reflect on the year’s activities shared together.
A big thank you to Bush Babes educator, Areta Farrance whose passion and dedication have been instrumental in inspiring young families. Areta has played a key role in helping parents use nature to create meaningful and educational activities for their children. The Christmas party was a perfect way to recognise the incredible impact the Bush Babes program has had in bringing families closer and fostering a love of the outdoors.
Brookhaven Christmas Light Trail
To spread even more holiday cheer, the Brookhaven Collective led the Christmas Light Community Trail. Homes adorned with Christmas lights were invited to participate in the trail, creating a beautiful map for residents to follow and enjoy a festive night of light viewing. On Saturday, 21 December, neighbours will gather to celebrate the season and explore the dazzling displays throughout the community. Participating homes are planning to hand out candy canes to visitors, making it a sweet and sparkling evening for all who take part.

Thank you to all who participated, volunteered, and contributed to making this holiday season special for our residents and those in need. We look forward to building on this spirit of generosity and connection in the year ahead.
