Clean Up Brookhaven Day
Thank you to all the volunteers who worked together to help keep Brookhaven clean and beautiful.
To mark Clean Up Australia Day this year, the local community came together to roll up their sleeves and keep our parks and wildlife corridors rubbish free. This was the fourth iteration of this fantastic event and a true testament to the community spirit and environmental stewardship of Brookhaven residents.
Congratulations to event organiser and member of The Brookhaven Collective, Hannah Robertson, who delivered a very well-managed event with the help of four motivated site leaders and a dedicated rubbish collection driver. Hannah praised the efforts of the volunteers, stating, “A great effort from everyone and it is worth noticing that our estate seems cleaner every year, so well done Brookhaven.” She also expressed her delight at the strong community turnout, saying, “We had so many volunteers this morning, and it was truly wonderful to meet so many neighbours and other local community members who came out.”
The morning was a tremendous success, with over 30 bags of rubbish collected. This impressive feat was made possible by Frasers Property Australia, and supported by Councillor Tony Hall and Melissa McMahon MP's office, both of whom lent a hand on the day. Logan City Council also played a crucial role by kindly donating a skip bin for the event.
After the clean-up, volunteers were treated to a delicious BBQ cooked by the Beenleigh Men’s Shed and enjoyed yummy treats from the Brookhaven Bean Café. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work and dedication of all the volunteers on the day.
Clean-up Australia Day is a great event to raise awareness about our duty to keep Brookhaven looking beautiful. Here are a few tips and tools to help you contribute to maintaining the natural beauty of Brookhaven:
- Please use allocated bins when visiting Brookhaven parks.
- Brookhaven parks are dog friendly, but please remember your poo bags and clean up after your pets.
- Report park litter and maintenance issues to Logan City Council. You can easily do this by downloading the Snap Send Solve app: https://www.snapsendsolve.com/.
- Participate in the next Brookhaven Collective clean-up event scheduled for September. Follow @brookhavencollective4207 on Facebook to stay up to date with upcoming community-led initiatives.
Thank you to all the residents and volunteers who continue to work together to keep Brookhaven clean and beautiful. Your time and participation makes a significant difference.
