Neighbours Day at Brookhaven
A very neighbourly morning for a very neighbourly organisation.
Despite the rain, neighbours from across Brookhaven came together for our inaugural Neighbours Day at the Brookhaven Bean Café to mingle over coffees and enjoy beautiful tunes from singer songwriter Ella Jones. Everyone was encouraged to participate in community-led activities, from pinning thoughts on how we create and share belonging at Brookhaven, to decorating Easter cookies, and swapping books and plants. As the event coincided with Easter this year, residents were treated to a highly-anticipated appearance by the Easter Bunny. The children of Brookhaven and young at heart residents enjoyed having their photo taken and indulged in chocolate easter eggs.
Neighbour Day is a national action day initiative by Relationships Australia founded to encourage social connections in local neighbourhoods, help create a stronger sense of belonging and reduce loneliness. We are proud to announce that in our centenary year, Frasers Property Australia has become an official partner of Relationships Australia’s community connection campaign, Neighbours Every Day.
Some people find it difficult to build relationships so Relationships Australia have created a library of tools and ideas to help neighbours connect meaningfully like these 5 simple tips to establish respectful relationships with those around you.
Show and tell is an inspiring way to create a stronger sense of community. We invite you to share your neighbourly story on the resident Facebook group or to get in touch with our Community Development Manager, Marion to feature in our next newsletter issue.
