Berwick Waters – Quarterly Update, October 2024
Dear residents and community members,
As we begin the run up to Christmas, there’s been some pleasing progress in many aspects of our community, but some frustrating hold ups in others.
Work on what will be one of Berwick Waters’ showpiece facilities, Treewalk Park, is progressing smoothly, with its namesake canopy structure now being installed on site, along with two shelters. We can’t wait for residents to explore it when it opens early next year.
We’ve finally been able to start work on our road connecting Bells Rd through Soldiers and Thompsons roads after the recoating of the gas pipeline running under the road was completed by APA. We’re expecting to be finished in January next year, pending approvals from relevant authorities.
We’re also making good progress on the Honour Ave connection near our new sales centre. We expect construction work on this road will be completed in November and are looking at ways to expedite the land transfer process to enable the finished road to be used as soon as possible.
Our two new schools now have names. Turrun Primary School and Wulerrp Secondary College were both named after community and Traditional Owner group consultation. In the table below there are details about how to enrol your child and find out upcoming school events.
The City of Casey has released its designs for the Springleaf Avenue Recreational Reserve (interim name) and is set to start construction in late 2024. The reserve will include two cricket/AFL ovals, two netball courts, cricket nets, community pavilion, walking paths, public art, playground and landscaping and is expected to be ready for use for summer 2026.
There’s a link in the table below where you can see the plans and stay up to date on progress.
Unfortunately, we’ve hit some delays on our wetlands works. Melbourne Water has not yet provided the necessary licences and approvals we require to continue works on our Upper Banks and Stage 14 wetlands, or the College Green Conservation Reserve.
We know this is a frustrating situation for our residents — it is also frustrating for us. We’ll continue to put pressure on Melbourne Water to ensure we can move forward with these important projects.
As usual if you have any questions or queries feel free to contact our Customer Care Team on 13 38 38.

Who is responsible for delivery? |
Status as at April 2024 |
New road upgrade to connect Soldiers Road to Bells Road (Bells Road Extension) |
Frasers Property Australia |
APA Group finished their work of recoating the gas pipeline which runs perpendicular under the road in late July. Our civil contractor has been hard at work since, completing the section of road over the pipeline and tying it into the existing sections. We still expect to be able to open the road in early 2025, pending approvals from relevant authorities. |
New road connection – Honour Avenue through to Riverstone Boulevard and Macumba Drive |
Frasers Property Australia |
Site works are progressing well and are expected to be finished in November. Once complete, ownership of the road will be transferred to the City of Casey. The normal land transfer process can then take some weeks but we are exploring ways of expediting this process to enable us to open the road before the end of the year. |
New road connection – Honour Avenue from Macumba Drive to Soldiers Road |
Frasers Property Australia, Mondous Property Australia and Circa Estate/City of Casey |
Frasers Property’s part of this new road connection was completed in July 2023, and Mondous Property is underway on their section, with completion now expected in Q1 2025. The third and final section of road connections is the responsibility of Circa Estate and we are still awaiting an update from Council or Circa on their likely timing. |
Radiant and Crosswater boulevards |
Frasers Property Australia |
Work is now underway on these two new north/south access routes with an expected completion date of Q3 2025. Once complete Radiant Boulevard will allow a north-south connection between Grices Rd and Thompsons Rd, travelling on Riverstone Bvd, Radiant Bvd and Laker Bvd. The completion of Crosswater Bvd will allow an additional north-south connection between Grices Rd and Thompsons Rd by travelling on Macumba Drive and Crosswater Bvd. |
Upper Banks & Promenade Village and Emerald Bend wetlands |
Frasers Property Australia |
There are three different wetland areas to be delivered. Unfortunately, Melbourne Water has still not provided us with the licence we require for our contractor to begin works on the section they own adjacent to the Upper Banks precinct. This means it is unlikely we will be able to begin work this year for a Q2 2025 completion, as we had planned. We are continuing to apply pressure to Melbourne Water in the hopes of being able to provide our customers with a realistic timeline, however, in the absence of any meaningful responses, this is very difficult to do. Unfortunately, it’s a similar story for the wetlands near Stage 14. Our earthworks are completed, but we can’t begin drainage construction until we receive approval from Melbourne Water, which is once again, so far not forthcoming. We will continue to follow up with Melbourne Water in the hopes we can provide some concrete information in our next update. At the final wetlands area near Stage 9 the bulk earthworks and civil works are both complete in the wetland reserve. We haven’t scheduled the completion of the landscaping works as yet. |
College Green Conservation Reserve |
Frasers Property Australia |
Frustratingly, progress on the College Green Conservation Reserve is also in the hands of Melbourne Water. We now have the necessary Council approval but can’t start work until Melbourne Water gives us an access licence. As soon as this is forthcoming our contractor will be able to provide us with a delivery timetable. |
Sporting ovals (located at Springleaf Avenue between Waterfront and Heritage Hill precincts) |
City of Casey |
The City of Casey has completed its design work on this important recreation reserve, with construction work due to begin in late 2024. The two AFL/cricket ovals, two netball courts, community pavilion, cricket nets, landscaping, walking paths, public art and playground are expected to be ready for the 2026 summer. You can see the plans and keep up with progress HERE on the City of Casey’s website. |
Primary and secondary schools |
Victorian Government (Department of Education and Training Victoria/Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA)) |
Work continues apace on the new primary and secondary schools, both of which now have final names: Turrun Primary School (pronounced turr-run) and Wulerrp Secondary College (pronounced wool-erp). Both schools will open for Term One next year, with the primary school set to host a range of events for future families in the lead up. There will be a Meet the Year Level Staff event at Bridgewater Community Centre on Wednesday, November 20 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and a family picnic at a local park (weather permitting) on Tuesday, December 10 from 3pm to 5pm. To enrol your child, or for more information about these upcoming events, email turrun.ps@education.vic.gov.au or wulerrp.sc@ecucation.vic.gov.au. |
The Waterside Centre |
Mondous Property Australia |
Mondous Property’s new leasing agency is continuing to work on filling the remaining outstanding tenancies. |
Mondous Island Wetlands |
Mondous Property Australia |
Final approval of a revised landscape masterplan for the area is still being worked through with City of Casey, but in the interim an early works package has commenced on site. These works include construction of:
The remaining landscape works in the Mondous Island Wetlands are estimated to be completed in Q4 2025. |
The Town Centre |
Mondous Property Australia |
In line with the last update, Mondous Property have commenced the civil works for the roads through the precinct that will connect Mondous Property’s section of Honour Avenue (currently under construction and referred to above) through to the future Bells Rd. Mondous is still finalising construction plans for Town Centre building works. |
Treewalk Park |
Frasers Property |
Some key structural elements of what is set to be one of the best parks in Berwick Waters are now being installed, including significant elements of the namesake treewalk elevated pathway and two shelters. The park is still on track for a Q1 2025 opening. |
