National Energy Bill Relief for households and small businesses

The Australian Government has announced that all households will receive up to $300 and small businesses will receive up to $325 to help with the cost of their electricity bills in the 2024–25 financial year.

Households

All households in NSW will receive a Bill Relief payment of up to $300.

Because your household is part of an embedded network, you will need to apply for the Bill Relief payment via this link - https://application.billrelief.energy.nsw.gov.au/billrelief/s/

Small businesses

Small businesses in NSW are eligible for a Bill Relief payment of up to $325 if they:

  • have an active Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • are named on the electricity bill or account
  • are on a separately metered business tariff
  • have an annual electricity consumption below 100 MWh.

Because your small business is part of an embedded network, you will need to apply for the Bill Relief payment via the link - https://application.billrelief.energy.nsw.gov.au/billrelief/s/

Victoria

The Australian Government is providing $3.5 billion to extend and expand the Energy Bill Relief Fund into the 2024-25 financial year. The 2024-25 program provides electricity bill rebates to all Australian households and eligible small businesses to ease cost of living pressures.

Victorian households will receive $300 and small businesses will receive $325 to help with the cost of their electricity bills.

Households

Households in embedded networks such as a caravan park, residential community, retirement village or apartment building can apply for the payment via Victorian Energy Compare website: https://en-billrelief2.energy.vic.gov.au/. Embedded network households will receive a one-off payment of $300.

To be eligible, households must:

  • Hold an active electricity account with an energy retailer for their place of residence)
  • Use their electricity account for domestic use only. Commercial properties are not eligible to receive the household bill relief

Small businesses

Small businesses in embedded networks, such as shopping centres and apartment buildings, can also apply for the payment via Victorian Energy Compare website: https://en-billrelief2.energy.vic.gov.au/. Eligible small businesses will receive a one-off payment of $325.

To be eligible, small businesses in embedded networks must:

  • Have an active ABN as listed on the Australian Business Register
  • Have a separately metered business tariff
  • Have an annual consumption below 40 MWh
