Hamilton Happenings

A big thank you from Hamilton Happenings to everyone who took part in this year’s Warm Up For Winter Community Project. This marks the fifth year we've invited residents and friends of Hamilton Reach to come together in support of the homeless. We hope you enjoyed the community morning tea and our vibrant display of scarves adorning the trees of Hamilton Reach, serving as a reminder that winter is especially harsh for those living on the streets of Brisbane, who need our help.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful volunteers who hand-knitted or crocheted scarves, as well as everyone who donated clothing, blankets, and other warm items for the homeless and their pets. A special thank you goes to Barbara from Aveo Clayfield, whose generous contribution of dozens of scarves has been invaluable. Barbara has been a dedicated supporter of this community event since its inception in 2020, inspiring other members of her retirement village to join in. She is already hard at work knitting more winter essentials for next year’s collection.

We would also like to express our gratitude to Frasers Property for their ongoing support, and to Councillor Julia Dixon for Hamilton Ward, for her generous donation of a large supply of wool for our knitters. We are pleased to report that in June, we delivered 35 boxes of donations to Homeless Connect, all of which have already been distributed to those in need.

Looking ahead, we would love to invite residents from other Frasers Property communities to contribute knitted scarves and winter essentials to this important cause. We’ll be calling for donations early next year.
