Summer Loving at Shell Cove

As the rhythm of a New Year starts to settle, and we move into the final month of Summer, you might be reeling from all the places and things you didn’t get to see or experience. But with the days still long, and plenty of opportunity to explore, we have a bucket list of activities to keep you inspired.

Whether you’re craving sun-drenched days on pristine beaches, coastal hikes with breathtaking views, or café-hopping your way through small business, there are still plenty of summer memories to be made!

WAVES OF DISCOVERY

The Waterfront, Shell Cove is surrounded by some of the most stunning beaches on the NSW South Coast, perfect for everything from laid-back swims to adrenaline-pumping surf sessions.

  • The Farm & Mystics
Nestled within the Killalea National Surfing Reserve, The Farm is a magnet for wave chasers, offering one of the best left-hand point breaks on the coast. Next door, Mystics delivers powerful, consistent swell and a slice of coastal magic. Even if you’re not riding the waves, these beaches are worth visiting just to soak up the scenery.
  • Shellharbour South Beach
South Beach offers a quieter escape with rolling waves and pristine sand—perfect for beginners and families or anyone looking to unwind or a sunset stroll and you get to experience the best of the breakwall while you do it.

For those who love exploring beneath the waves, Shell Cove is home to some of the most fascinating dive and snorkel sites on the coast. Whether you’re an experienced diver or just starting out with a snorkel, there’s an underwater world waiting for you.

  • The Coal Loader
An ideal site for both beginner snorkelers and divers, featuring remnants of the historical coal loader structure with abundant marine life weaving through its remains.
  • The Gutter
A hotspot for experienced divers, this deep, rocky crevice is home to an array of fish, octopus, eels and stingrays.
  • Bushrangers Bay
this protected dive site provides a rare opportunity to observe the majestic and docile Grey Nurse Sharks in their natural habitat. A must-do for experience for those looking for an unforgettable encounter.

TRAILS OF DISCOVERY

If your perfect summer includes a coastal adventure, the Bass Point Reserve Walk should be high on your list. Winding through rugged cliffs, secluded bays, and hidden rock pools, this 6 km track offers some of the most spectacular ocean views in the region. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins and in the right season, whales, as you breathe in the salty air and let the sound of crashing waves set the rhythm of your journey.

Or head 15 minute west and wander the rainforest trails and be rewarded with swim-safe waterfalls. Nothing reinvigorates the soul like diving under the icy-waters of a waterfall!
