It's all happening at the future Karwan Primary School!
It's official! We are delighted to announce that the new primary school at The Grove has been officially named Karwan Primary School and building works are well underway.
The name ensures the school has a clear and distinct identity from the other schools in Tarneit and acknowledges the importance of Aboriginal histories and cultures. The word Karwan (pronounced kar-wan) is a Bunurong word referring to the nankeen kestrel.
When the school opens in Term 1, 2023, it will include:
- an administration building with a library, staff offices and amenities,
- 2 learning neighbourhood buildings with general purpose classrooms, and flexible and collaborative teaching spaces,
- a specialist learning neighbourhood for subjects such as food technology and science,
- a community hub with a competition-grade gymnasium, canteen, music and drama space,
- 2 outdoor hardcourts,
- sports field and
- a bike shed.
Building works are well underway with classrooms starting to take shape, uniform designs have been announced and now, there's a new Facebook page to keep up with what's happening at the school: www.facebook.com/KarwanPrimarySchool
