First look at The Grove’s new town centre

• The Grove shopping centre to include full-line Woolworths plus 20 retail stores.
• Construction underway and due for completion in 2027.
• New Riverside neighbourhood park to be delivered in conjunction with the Shopping Centre.

The first images of an expansive new shopping destination at Tarneit have been released.

The renders of The Grove shopping centre, at the Frasers Property Australia community in Melbourne’s west, show what residents can expect when the complex is completed in early 2027.

Tenants at the Bethany Rd shopping centre will include Chemist Warehouse and Anytime Fitness as well as a nail bar, greengrocer, bakery and pizza restaurant.

Facing the shopping centre, on the other side of Bethany Rd, additional amenity will include Saltwater all-ages learn-to-swim school with two pools, Hungry Jacks and Red Rooster fast food, a service station and car wash.

The two precincts will be connected by a pedestrian crossing and reserve, with bus stops on either side linking through to Werribee and Tarneit railway stations.

The Grove retail centre was designed by architects Clarke Hopkins Clarke to reflect the community’s location near the meeting point of Davis Creek and the Werribee River.

The qualities and patterns found in the riverbanks and the flowing forms of the waterways are mirrored in the centre’s textures and materials.

The architects’ design uses the adjoining park as a way to form connections between the centre and the local community, with open and welcoming entry points leading from the open space to the centre.

There will be 260 car parking spaces for the retail centre, with a further 60 spaces to serve the swim school and adjacent tenants.

Construction, by Empire Property Builders, will begin in the second quarter of 2025. The new shopping will be a valuable part of the amenity and a great complement to Frasers Property’s The Grove community next door.

Nestled between the Werribee River and Davis Creek, The Grove is a 167 ha community which will eventually be home to 2600 families. More than 1800 people already call The Grove home today.

A mix of land as well as house-and-land packages are available within the community, which is already well over 80 percent sold.

Many of the community’s parks, bike paths, playgrounds and wetlands are already complete, including 7 ha of waterways.

Ebb Drive Park, featuring an adventure playground with climbing tower and mini-basketball court, is due for completion in Q1 2025.

The Dianella Community Centre within the community hosts maternal and child health as well as a kindergarten, meeting spaces, half basketball court and community barbecue facilities.

The new Karwan Primary School opened in 2023 and the new Brinbeal Secondary College opened for Term 1 last year.

Resident Faran Qaiser said the fact amenity within the community was established quickly was one of the drawcards for his family.

“The Grove has fantastic parks. Both my kids love it. There are just really, great parks where you can just leave your kids and don’t worry about them while they play,” he said.

Fellow residents Abhisek Bhatia and Divya Mehta agreed.

The couple’s son Aaryav spends every afternoon he can at the Tributary Street Park, with its flying fox, slides, climbing structures and picnic shelter.

“He really looks forward to that. He goes and plays with others in the community and that’s where he made a lot of his friends. School provided a secondary connection, but his first friends were those he met in the park,” Abhishek says.

“The Grove has done really well with the parks in small pockets and they’re a great way to connect with others in the community.”

A bus route connects The Grove to Werribee railway station, but with the new Tarneit railway station due to open in 2026 near the corner of Leakes and Davis roads, commuting to the city will become even easier.

The VLine station will include parking for 400 commuters, four bay bus interchange and a pedestrian underpass.
