Enjoy Easter Fun this school holiday
It’s that exciting time again! With the kids at home for 2 weeks over the Easter School Holidays, it can be hard to find new, exciting activities that are easy, accessible, cheap and don’t cause a headache for the parents. Here’s some ideas of how to keep your minis entertained this school holidays.
Macquarie Centre Bunny Burrow
When: 30th March - 11th April | 9:30am-5:30pm
Where: Macquarie Centre, Level 4, near Time Zone
Hop into Easter fun at Macquarie Centre bunny burrow and snap a magical easter photo with your family and friends. Plus, the first 50 people to share your pics on Instagram, tag @macquarie centre and #EasterAtMacquarie will receive a $10 voucher to use at your favourite retailers!

Ryde Council’s Cinema in the Park
When: Friday 14th April, Saturday 15th April from 5pm
Where: Fontenoy Park, Macquarie Park (14th) /Ryde Park, Ryde (15th)
If you’re looking for a free fun family activity, Ryde council’s ‘Cinema in the Park’ event is a great way to connect with the community and enjoy a picnic with a movie. Particularly perfect for younger kids, they’ll be showing DC League of Superpets on Friday 14th April at Fontenoy Park, Macquarie Park and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in Ryde Park on the 15th April.
Entry to the event is completely free and available to everyone, with free popcorn for the first 300 groups! There will also be plenty of food options with food and icecream trucks on-site.

Lane Cove Council’s ‘Bush Kids’ Classes
When: 12th, 13th, 14th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 27th April | 9:45am - 11am
Where: Blackman Park/Gore Creek Reserve/Tambourine Bay Park
If you’re looking to immerse your kids in the outdoors and find creative ways for them to learn more about the natural environment, Lane Cove Council’s ‘Bush Kids’ event is the perfect activity for all of your kids, and best of all it’s available to a wide range of ages, from as little as 2 years old.
With classes running from the 12th April, there’s an array of classes available focusing on art, Australian native animals, birds, bunyips, and even dinosaurs. It’s a great way for the kids to make friends and to keep them learning during the holiday break. All activities are very cost-friendly, at $10.85 per session per child, and no cost for accompanying adults.

Climb Fit Macquarie Park
When: 6am-10pm Weekdays, 8am- 8pm Weekends

The school holidays are the perfect time to make sure the kids are staying fit and active, with fun activities that have them diving into community fun. Climb Fit in Macquarie Park is your one stop shop for all things bouldering and rock climbing, for both kids & adults, so the parents can also get involved. Best of all, they’ve released school holiday memberships, so you can have unlimited school holiday climbing fun for only $79! It’s a great way to improve hand-eye coordination and strength, without even realising, plus you’ll have experienced coaches to help you improve every time you attend.

Midtown Stone Painting Workshop
When: Wednesday 12th April | 9am-11am
Where: Midtown Community Garden
Right here in Midtown, our community garden will be hosting three exciting events for the kids in April! On Wednesday the 12th April, we’ll be hosting a stone painting workshop so the kids can get creative and brighten up our wonderful community space, plus they can bring home any painted goodies with them. Running from 9am-11am, they’ll also be provided with a delicious morning tea.

Midtown Kids Gardening Workshop
When: Thursday 13th April | 9am-11am
Where: Midtown Community Garden
Following this, on Thursday 13th April join us for a free, fun filled morning with the team from the Royal Botanic Gardens! They’ll be joining us to show the kids how to create your own mini garden by reusing and wicking plastic bottles and a ceramic pot. They’ll then be hosting a mini cooking session where they’ll be making flatbread and a native leaf tea from the Midtown Community Garden.

Midtown Composting & Worm Farming Workshop
When: Saturday 29th April | 9am-11am
Where: Midtown Community Garden
On the 29th April, the garden will be hosting a free event in collaboration with “The Veggie Lady”, where she will be interactively showcasing how to set up an effective compost bin and talking all things recycling! This is a great event for the whole family to teach the importance of disposing of food scraps which can then be used for garden fertiliser that will help your produce flourish. Plus, worm farming is always an exciting sight for the kids! One lucky winner will also be taking home a free worm farm to kick start their own organic recycling system.
