Welcome to our Midtown Community

Midtown will become a thriving and connected, mixed tenure community, and will be home to over 6,500 residents.

The community development program at Midtown will represent a new paradigm for building a strong, resilient, and healthy community that brings together residents from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in a truly integrated setting.

Various events and activities are organised by our dedicated Community Development Team for all to enjoy.

Midtown Honey is here

Sourced from Midtown’s own 6 beehives, the Midtown Honey is ready to gift to our newest residents. Thank you to everyone who voted on the logo design. There will be a series of bee workshops where you can learn about the bees and all the different things you can do with honey, if you have any ideas for the types of workshops you would like to see, please get in contact.

Montessori is now accepting waitlist applications

Community Greening Session

The Royal Botanic Gardens Community Greening hosted a working bee and taught residents how to maintain the Community Garden, this included a harvest of the garden and re-planting seasonal produce.

Midtown EATs

Midtown Eats is a free community dinner for Midtown MacPark residents, fostering connection and inclusivity as part of the Together for Ryde network. With over 20 languages spoken in the community, it’s a welcoming space to meet neighbors, share a meal, and build lasting friendships.

Community Hub Open Day

To celebrate the opening of the new Midtown Community Hub, residents enjoyed an evening of live music, a grazing table and an opportunity to share ideas and suggestions for activities and events in the space.

Midtown EATs end of year Celebration 

Residents enjoyed coming together to celebrate the first year of living at Midtown at an end of year celebration. The celebration involved a Christmas dinner, gelato, carols, fun entertainment for all to enjoy, and of course a visit from Santa on his sleigh!

Backyard Bee-keeping

Six Midtown residents spent the day learning all about European honeybee beekeeping starting them on their journey to harvesting their own honey using the Midtown Bees.

Idea’s Breakfast

The team at Village Well lead an interactive community planning session with residents over breakfast. This session included residents providing feedback on the community vision and helping to shape the events and activities plan for 2025.

Midtown Treasure Trove

Residents came together to showcase their items at the second Treasure Trove Markets. These vibrant markets saw a mix of pre-loved clothes and homewares, and homemade arts and crafts for sale. Visitors to the markets enjoyed live music, facepainting, and a coffee cart.

Clay Insects – School Holiday Program

For some school holiday fun kids enjoyed learning about the fascinating creatures in our gardens, from the tiny to the not-so-tiny. After learning about the creature habitats or homes all around us they got to make a creature from clay to take home.

Macquarie Community College Info Session

Residents enjoyed hearing from staff from the college about the variety of courses they from job ready skills to hospitality, childcare, fitness and more. The information session allowed residents to take the first step into finding a career they have always wanted.

Balcony Gardening Workshop with the Veggie Lady.

The Veggie Lady hosted an engaging workshop with residents to teach them the tips and tricks to creating a thriving balcony garden. Residents got their hands dirty at got to plant their very own seedling to take home.

R U Ok Day Walk

Residents came along to an R U Ok Morning tea, and neighbourhood walk where they were able to check in with each other and use the R U Ok resources to learn how to ask their neighbours ‘R U Ok?’

Preserving Herb Workshop & BBQ Lunch

Join the Royal Botanic Gardens for an exciting workshop where you'll dive into the world of herbs in our community garden. Discover the secrets of drying and preserving herbs to enjoy their medicinal benefits at home. Plus, connect with neighbours and enjoy a BBQ lunch.

Midtown MacPark Development Update

Meet the Frasers Property Development Team and hear about the next stage of the development that is about to commence on the Community Facilities and Village Green.

Pre-school gardening workshop

Children from a local daycare as well as those living at Midtown enjoyed a morning with the Royal Botanical Gardens learning all about different plants and got to get their hands dirty planting some seedlings.

Kids Lego Playdate

Primary school aged kids enjoyed a morning of playing with Lego and making friends, while parents got to meet other parents from the community over a cup of coffee.

NAIDOC Week event

Residents enjoyed a trip on the Midtown Community Bus to this Cultural Experience Workshop hosted by City of Ryde Council to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

Kids Nature Treasure Box Activity

Children of all ages went on a nature treasure hunt along Shrimpton’s creek collecting natures treasures while making friends.

Meet the Midtown Beekeeper

Residents enjoyed meeting the Midtown beekeeper and learning all about the beautiful bees that make up the Midtown Honey. Residents also enjoyed a honey tasting, and have expressed interest in learning how to become beekeepers themselves!

Kids gardening workshop

A fun morning outdoor activity hosted by the Royal Botanic Gardens where little ones got their hands dirty while learning about gardening.

Kids playdate

A playdate was held for all little adventurers and their parents. At this event, children played at the playground next to our Darcy St. Project Café, while parents connected and built relationships over a coffee provided by us. This was an exciting opportunity for families to meet others at Midtown MacPark.

Residents morning tea

We celebrated the opening of the first stage of Midtown MacPark in early April with a special event attended by Federal Housing Minister, Julie Collins, NSW Housing Minister Rose Jackson, as well as Frasers Property Australia CEO Cameron Leggatt and Mission Australia CEO Sharon Callister. The event included a morning tea where guests could mingle and celebrate this major milestone.

Kokedama workshop

The Kokedama workshop hosted by the Royal Botanical Gardens was a great success. Participants learned how to create lush hanging moss balls of Japanese origin, which made perfect 'housewarming' gifts. The event was an enjoyable experience, and the hanging moss balls now adorn many new homes.

Neighbourhood Walk & Pet Playdate

Residents have been enjoying this monthly walk along the Shrimptons Creek where they get to know each other as well as visit some of the local parks and amenities.

Community Garden Working Bee

A great working bee session with the Royal Botanic Gardens Community Greening Program. Participants were taught the tricks of the trade for growing herbs, fruits and vegetables, and enjoyed fresh produce at the Midtown MacPark Community Garden.

Community Planning Session

We had a group of residents gathered to share their hopes and vision for the kind of community they want Midtown MacPark to be. It was great to hear their diverse ideas and dreams for the new community.

Summer Picnic

After our Community Planning Session, we enjoyed a vibrant Summer Picnic. This joyful gathering highlighted the friendly and inclusive nature of our diverse community, fostering connections that will flourish in new community at Midtown MacPark.

Handmade Christmas Decoration Workshop

The Midtown community enjoyed a festive activity making their own handmade Christmas decorations from easy to find materials. Just in time for the joyous season!

Neighbourhood Walk, Pet Playdate & BBQ

On the day, the Midtown team along with the local communities had a wonderful walk along the Shrimptons Creek Walking Track, exploring the local ELS Hall Dog Park with our furry friends. After the walk, we enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch at Midtown Community Garden. It was a fantastic event, and thank you to everyone who joined us on the day.

Story Time at Livvi’s Place

The Midtown Community Bus picked up parents/careers and children from Macquarie Uni Station to attend a enjoyable morning session with storyteller Nylan at Livvi's Place for a Story Time hosted by City of Ryde Council. It was an inclusive hour of craft, stories, friends, songs, and fun for everyone to enjoy.

Neighbourhood Cultural Walk & Morning tea

Local communities came together for a delightful cultural experience as they gathered to take a leisurely walk along the Budyari Ngurra Walking Track, while took a break together to enjoy a refreshing morning tea afterwards.

The Great Separation Screening

In partnership with Macquarie Uni, we showcased this documentary which highlights the importance of connection and reducing loneliness in our communities.

Kids Gardening Workshop

In partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens Community Greening Program, we ran an interactive workshop with kids where they got to build their own herb garden and make flat bread using herbs from the Midtown Garden.

Stone Painting Workshop

For a fun school holiday activity for kids we partnered with a local artist who taught kids how to paint fun images on stones that brightened up the garden.

Composting and Worm Farming Workshop

A great workshop with ‘The Veggie Lady’ – Toni Salter, teaching us how to create a compost and worm farm bin at home so residents can use compost and worm juice to fertilise their gardens at home.

Together, they represent a new paradigm for building a strong, resilient, and healthy community that brings together residents from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in a truly integrated setting. Their commitment lies in innovative approaches to create housing diversity, promote social inclusion, and foster economic participation.
