  • Good News Lutheran College opened on schedule for 2025 school year
  • 362 students from Prep to Grade 6 embark on a new education journey

The first students at the new Mambourin campus of the Good News Lutheran College began their education journey this week, when the school opened on schedule after construction began in May last year.

The school, at Frasers Property Australia’s Mambourin community, will eventually accommodate 1500 Prep to Grade 12 students on its 6.8 hectare site. It already has a well-established campus at nearby Tarneit, where the first three grades attended while waiting for Mambourin’s completion.

Facilities at the Mambourin school include play areas and more than 30 purpose-built classrooms and specialty areas. Further construction will take place over the next ten years.

The initial cohort of students who began on Monday, February 3, comprises 362 students from Prep to Grade Six, with further grades to be added as the school grows.

The school welcomed the first parents with a Coffee and Muffin Morning at Little Growling Café at residents’ centre Club Mambourin after the inaugural school drop off on Monday.

More than 100 parents attended the event, which was designed to help families meet and form connections.

Good News Lutheran College Principal Fiona McAuliffe said the opening of the school’s Mambourin campus stemmed from a determination to offer a Christian education to families in Melbourne’s growing west built around values of grace, respect, integrity and courage.

“We’re so excited to get started and to see these children make this school their own. In years to come they’ll be able to proudly say that they were the very first students at what will be an educational facility of excellence and inclusion,” she said.

Frasers Property Australia’s General Manager Development Victoria Sarah Bloom said the school was a most welcome addition to a fast-growing list of amenities in Mambourin that are either complete, or underway.

“The school joins three established parks, exclusive residents’ centre Club Mambourin and the newly opened Aspire Early Learning childcare centre, and will soon be amongst the vibrant shopping centre, Mambourin Marketplace, with a full-line Coles supermarket and other retail and speciality stores,” she said.

“Perhaps more than any other facility though, a school is a glue that can knit a community together, so we couldn’t be happier to see Good News Lutheran College open its doors,” she said.

More than 800 residents already call Mambourin home, with the community set to have more than 1400 homes when complete.

Land lots currently available at Mambourin range in size from 231sqm to 545sqm and in price from $297,500 to $470,000.
