Baldivis Grove Central Park

Who was it who said “Time spent amongst trees is never wasted time”? It’s certainly true. As is ‘Nature is the best playground.”

We all know that children playing freely outdoors strengthens their self-confidence and arouses their natural curiosity. Fresh air, open spaces, shady trees, places to explore with your friends, things to climb. It’s all part of being a kid and growing up.

So, when we designed Baldivis Grove, having a large open space where families could gather and socialise, children could meet and play, and residents could stay active and healthy, was a very high priority.  It was also important to make it as accessible as possible for all residents, so we put it in the middle of the community, and we made it big! Stretching from one end of Baldivis Grove to the other, it has created a safe place for kids of all ages to learn, discover and play. And the obvious name for it was the Central Park!

The Central  Park is so large, it needed developing in three stages, so it would grow as Baldivis Grove grew. The first stage was completed early and included mature retained trees, native garden beds, a barbecue, picnic table and shaded area, and a nature playground with swing and climbing elements. There’s even a drinking fountain with a special drinking bowl for your dog!

Stage Two saw more grassed areas installed, with a large kickabout space with footy goals and more nature play and lots more native trees planted.

Another new feature of the park is the Cockatubes, a further indication of Fraser Property’s strong environmental values and commitment to connecting families to nature. The nesting boxes – an artificial hollow tube - offer the local cockatoos a safe place to nest, breed and feed in areas where habitat has been lost. They are specifically designed to help the three threatened species of Black Cockatoo found in WA - Carnaby’s cockatoo, Baudin’s cockatoo, and the Forest red-tailed black cockatoo.
