BRADMILL YARRAVILLE CHAMPIONS LOCAL SPORTS CLUBS
Bradmill Yarraville has thrown its support behind local clubs in its new neighbourhood by becoming official sponsors of the Yarraville Seddon Eagles, Yarraville Glory Soccer Club and Footscray Hockey Club.
All three clubs conduct competition and training across the road from the development at McIvor Reserve, with the Eagles also conducting training and games a short walk away at Yarraville Oval on Williamstown Road.
This collaboration goes beyond just funding, with the aim of fostering a strong connection between future residents and the established community.
"We want our new residents to feel welcome and connected from day one," said David Mazzotta, Senior Community Development Manager leading the initiative.
"Sporting clubs are a cornerstone of any community, and by partnering with the Eagles, Glory and Footscray Hockey Club, we're not only providing them with support, but also opening the door for our future residents to get involved in local activities."
In total, the clubs count over 2,000 active participants in their respective sports. Bradmill Yarraville will support the clubs until the end of 2025, with a view to ongoing support in the years to come.
“This is a long-term project and will continually explore ways we can continue to support the wider community as we progress with the development," Mazzotta continued.
Yarraville Seddon Eagles President Angela Ballard welcomed Bradmill Yarraville's involvement, highlighting the importance of local businesses supporting community sports.
“We’re delighted to have the support of the Bradmill Yarraville development, to have the backing of local businesses is so important in running a club which is entirely made up of volunteers,” said Angela.
“Our club represents more than just a game of footy or netball, we also prioritise engagement with our local community, as well as the wellbeing of our players off the field, which is a value we share with Frasers Property, so we’re excited to work with one another.”
Yarraville Glory were also excited to welcome their new neighbours in an official capacity as supporters of the clubs.
Glory FC Board Member Con Giatas, a long-time local of the area, said the club is eagerly awaiting to welcome new players as Bradmill Yarraville progresses.
“The beauty for incoming residents at Bradmill Yarraville is their location, they’ll have so many choices to get involved with community sports which is a great way to feel welcome in a new town,” said Giatas.
“We’ve been around since 1966 so it’s exciting to see some life come back to the Bradmill building across the road.”
Developed by Frasers Property Australia and partner Irongate, Bradmill Yarraville is set to become an iconic community in Melbourne’s inner west, encompassing townhomes, apartments, a neighbourhood shopping centre, community facilities and a revitalised heritage precinct.
