Stop and Stair: The Quarry’s cliffside steps lead to spectacular lookout
Breathtaking views rivalling Kangaroo Point are just 115 steps away as cliffside stairs are installed at The Quarry in Keperra, marking a significant milestone for Frasers Property Australia’s $500 million masterplanned community.
The staircase wraps around The Quarry’s unique granite cutface, with a 12-metre climb to a landscaped lookout at the top with views from Brisbane’s north-west overlooking the D’Aguilar Mountain Range and beyond.
Step-by-step the structure came together, modelled by Naturform over six months and fabricated locally in their Sumner workshop with 10 specialist engineers, designers and boiler makers.
Scott Ullman, General Manager Queensland Development, said it took three boiler makers three months to assemble the structure.
“After years of planning, designing and building, we feel so privileged to deliver these stairs to the local community, which would not be possible without Naturform’s expertise to bring our vision to life,” he said.
“There aren’t many views like this publicly available in Brisbane’s north-west, so we wanted people to experience the incredible elevation, views and breeze right from the beginning because it really is so unique.”
The heaviest lift during the installation was just two tonnes, which Mr Ullman said was a deliberate choice.
“The stairs are intentionally quite light, so they don’t dominate the cutface,” Mr Ullman said.
“Instead, they blend into the surrounding landscape, which will continue to be established over time as the plants mature and regreen the cliffside.”
Spanning 48.7 hectares, the hillside precinct is transforming the Keperra Quarry into Brisbane’s most elevated masterplanned community. It will feature approximately 500 residences, extensive placemaking and resort-style amenity exclusive for resident use when complete.
Mr Ullman said Frasers Property Australia has been creating vibrant communities for almost 100 years and this experience, combined with a passion for innovation, would make The Quarry more than a traditional greenfield subdivision.
“Built on elevated platforms reaching peak heights of 170m, homes at The Quarry will have exceptional views overlooking the D’Aguilar Range, Glasshouse Mountains, Moreton Bay and beyond,” he said.
Located 9.5 kilometres north-west of the Brisbane CBD, Keperra is an established suburb with pent-up demand for new housing supply due to its proximity to leading schools, healthcare and major transport infrastructure.
The Keperra Quarry, which mines granite, has operated for more than 60 years and will progressively curb operations as the development of the residential stages advance.
Land prices at The Quarry start from $580,000. For more information visit: frasersproperty.com.au/qld/the-quarry.
