Quickfit Clothing Alterations, Rim Kanawati
“I love coming to work and hearing the stories from the customers and people”
Moved in: November 2021
Born in Syria, Rim learnt her skill thanks to her Mother who encouraged her to learn sewing from a young age so that when she grew up she could use the skill to open doors for her future. “It's an amazing skill and has given me a lot of opportunities”.
Rim has built a successful business called Quickfit Clothing Alterations and has a storefront at Ed.Square which she co-owns with her husband, who works from a second alteration store in a neighbouring suburb. Rim has found great joy in what she does which she says goes beyond repairing garments and making them new again.
“I love coming to work and hearing the stories from the customers and people. Customers might come to me sad but they leave happy, it’s the best thing about what I do”.
As locals, Rim and her husband are excited to see how the community is expanding; “It’s going to get bigger and better”.
